Naturalization Ceremony – Middleton Place – 10:00 AM – Free

Held each year commemorating Arthur Middleton’s birthday, the Naturalization Ceremony has become a distinctly patriotic event at Middleton Place. It serves as a reminder of the varied makeup of the nation’s citizenry which, through natural birth or Naturalization, weaves the cultural patchwork that is the United States.

Rum Stroll – Middleton Place – 6:00 – 8:00 PM

Middleton Place will celebrate the historic rum culture of the Low Country on Wednesday, June 25 with a special Rum Stroll to conclude the Spring season of the popular weekly Wine Strolls. Caribbean inspired food stations, historic rum punches and a variety of specialty rums will be available from 6:00p.m.-8:00p.m. Begin the Rum Stroll on the Parterre overlooking the Ashley River and tour the House Museum at your leisure to see the extensive collection of family owned furniture, art, documents and other objects including Arthur and Henry Middleton’s elaborate sterling silver tankards used for drinking and toasting with rum punch! Conclude the evening in historic fashion in the Plantation Stableyards where costumed interpreters will share the secret to all good 18th century rum punch receipts (the proper proportions of sour, sweet, strong and weak).

Friday, June 27th

2014 Hemmings Motor News Great Race Car Show at The Yorktown – 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Friday, June 27th more than 100 vintage, antique and collector cars participating in The 2014 Hemmings Motor News Great Race will roll into the Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum, landside of the USS YORKTOWN.

These very rare cars are all model year 1972 or older. They will be on display from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet the drivers and learn more about their entirely authentic cars.

The oldest car participating in the Great Race is a 1915 Hudson. Recognizable cars, such as the “General Lee” and a real-life recreation of “Doc Hudson” from the Pixar movie, “Cars”, will also be in the competition.

Family Flick Night – Despicable Me 2 – Charlestowne Landing – 6:00 PM

When the sun goes down, the curtain goes up… at Charles Towne Landing! Welcome to Family Flick Night, a great way to spend some time with friends and family. Enjoy great movies in a fantastic park setting. Best of all, the movie is free. Bring a date or bring the entire family, because this is the best way to entertain yourself on a budget in Charleston! Saturday, June 28th

Carolina Day 2014 – 10:00 AM

Carolina Day celebrates the American victory at the Battle of Sullivan’s Island on June 28, 1776. The first Carolina Day was celebrated in 1777, and the Palmetto Society and the South Carolina Historical Society continue the commemoration today.

Schedule of events includes:

10:00 AM – Church Service at St. Michael’s Church (71 Broad Street)

11:00 AM – Procession from Washington Park to White Point Garden

11:30 AM – Wreath-laying ceremony at Jasper Monument in White Point Garden

This year’s keynote speaker is Dr. C.L. “Chip” Bragg. Bragg is a native of Sumter, South Carolina.

Holy City Fashion Photo Shoot – Pineapple Fountain – 6:30 PM

This shoot is for photographers and models of all levels as well as anyone who wants to come be photographed for fun. We will meet at the Pineapple Fountain at Waterfront Park in Charleston, SC and we will travel the immediate and surrounding areas as we take turns mixing and mingling working with different people. This is a High fashion shoot so ladies bring out your favorite gowns and heels or summer fashion clothing. Guys bring out your GQ suits or other fashionable favorites. Please do not show up in any outfit that is not approved for the shoot. All images of the clothing you plan to wear should be submitted to tiffaniedaudelin@yahoo.com for approval. Photographers you will be responsible for obtaining your own model release forms for whomever you work with. Please hand out your business cards to those you shoot so they know how to contact you. All negotiations for images will be between the model and the individual photographer in question.
